Sports betting in montana

Here in Montana to legally sports bet you have to go through SportsBetMontana which effectively has a monopoly. You have to use their machines at local casinos/bars. This happened due to lobbying efforts by the Tavern Association. Basically the Casinos/bars wanted a cut off any bet made and the state gave it to them. Because of this people who sports bet in Montana don't get vegas odds, we get worse odds by like 10%, that 10% goes to the Casinos/Bars who provide no discernable service considering it's so easy to bet online now. Please reach out to your state representatives and ask them to change this as this is an absurd machination designed to enrich the Tavern Association. It's worth noting I don't even sports bet, I'm not into it, but the idea that we are allowing this to happen perturbs me. If someone has a gambling problem do we really want to exacerbate the problem by giving them worse than Vegas odds?

Top Comment: The Tavern Association has been some bullshit for a long time and do not care about gambling or alcohol addictions. Explain to me why the state is ok with shitty casinos open 24 hours on every corner but breweries need to close up shop by 9PM. It’s a big greedy lobby at the end of the day, looking out for profits and I agree that only a push to our representatives would change things.

Glad somebody is starting to inform the public that odds from Intralot are JUNK! The fact that they are ripping off Montanan's is infuriating.

All sports betting is done through the state via little kiosks. So it's exactly the same no matter where you are. As far as I know, they are the only legal option in this state, so companies like draft kings won't let you bet here, without using a vpn
